Euronext Launches Futures On Dow Jones Sector Indices

Today, Euronext launches ten new futures on Dow Jones STOXX SMsector indices.

The new contracts cover the banking, energy, pharmaceuticals, technology and telecommunications sectors represented in the Dow Jones STOXX SM 600 and the Dow Jones Euro STOXX SM.

Features are identical to those of Dow Jones STOXX SM L&M indices already traded on Euronext, with the exception of trading units (EUR 50), and fee (EUR 0.12 per contract). Liquidity is guaranteed by market makers offering bid-ask spreads at all times.

The Dow Jones STOXX SM 600 comprises 600 stocks from 16 European countries. The Dow Jones Euro is a sub-index made up of euro-zone stocks in the Dow Jones STOXX SM 600.

In 1999, Euronext was the first market to open trading in derivative instruments adapted to meet the needs of European index-based asset management. Products now available on Euronext markets include futures and options on the Dow Jones STOXX50 SM as well as Dow Jones STOXX SM L&M sector indices. Euronext also lists options on selected component stocks of the Dow Jones Euro STOXX50 SM.
