Euronext Integration Crosses New Milestone - Clearing 21 To Be Implemented In Brussels

Date 22/02/2002

Following today's successful implementation of an updated version of Clearing 21® for the cash market in Paris, Clearnet announces that C21® will be implemented as the new clearing platform for cash markets in Brussels on March 8, 2002.

The migration of the participants in Brussels to C21® is the next step of the move to a single clearing platform for all Clearnet members, and follows its implementation in Paris in September 2000 for its derivative market and in January 2001 for its cash market. C21® will be used by all Euronext cash and derivative markets in Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris.

Clearing21® is an advanced clearing system providing a standard for the CCP (Central CounterPart) industry. It is the only fully operational system able to clear trades in both equities and derivatives in real time while using a single tool and enabling multilateral netting of positions.

Clearnet is the clearing house and central counterparty for equity and derivative markets of Euronext Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris.
