Euronext Chiefs Honoured By City Of London

Date 16/01/2003

Euronext Chairman and Chief Executive, Jean-François Théodore and Chief Operating Officer, George Möller were today conferred the Freedom of the City of London by the Corporation of London. They were nominated by the Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee, Dame Judith Mayhew and the immediate past Lord Mayor Alderman, Sir Michael Oliver.

The presentations were made by the Clerk of the Chamberlain's Court, Mr. Murray Craig at London's Guildhall.

Dame Judith Mayhew, Chairman of Policy and Resources committee, Corporation of London said: "The City of London is truly an international financial services centre and today's ceremony recognises this. The Freedom is one of the most well-established of City traditions - indeed it is the second-oldest ceremony after the Coronation - and here it honours those from the most modern of 21 century businesses."

Mr. Théodore said: "I am delighted and extremely proud to be presented with the Freedom of the City of London, and become a new member of this highly regarded tradition."

Mr. Möller added: "We will both endeavour to honour this privilege and help maintain the great heritage of the Freedom of the City."
