Euronext Business Steady In June - Trading Steady In June For Euronext Paris, Amsterdam And Brussels - Trade Values Up Over The First Half - Nexttrack Takes The Lead In Europe For Exchange-Traded Funds

Equity trading through Euronext central orderbooks, including both domestic and foreign companies, averaged EUR 6.94 billion in July, a figure practically unchanged from the previous month. The total amount for the first six months of the year came to EUR 862.9 billion, showing a rise of 3.7% from the same period of 2000.

Trading on NextTrack, the compartment dedicated to exchange-traded funs, was up 88.9% from a daily average of EUR 50.8 million in May to EUR 95.9 million in June.

This places it first in its category in Europe with market share at 48%. NextTrack was launched on January 9, 2001, and has now 14 Trackers listed.

Capitalization of the 1,588 companies listed on Euronext markets came to EUR 2,232 billion.

A total of 32.444 million contracts were traded on Euronext derivatives markets in June, 5.9% more than in the previous month, setting the total for the first half at 180.842. Equity options accounted for 54.8% of trading in the first six months, with business in this sector up 47.4% from the same period of last year.
