EURONEXT Announces First Half Year Results And Supervisory Board

EURONEXT, the European exchange, to be created by the merger between Amsterdam Exchanges (AEX) Brussels Exchanges (BXS) and ParisBourse today announces its financial results for the six months ending at June 30, 2000, and the composition of its supervisory board.

For the first semester, revenues totalled Euros 366,2 million including Euros 45,6 million of exceptional income.

Expenses reached Euros 204,9 million including Euros 8,1 million of exceptional expenses.

Operating profit was Euros 161,2 million and net profit after tax was Euros 116,4 million.

For the entire year 1999, comparable figures showed an income of Euros 598,1 million including Euros 24,6 million of exceptional income. Expenses reached Euros 428 million including Euros 48,2 million of exceptional expenses. Operating profit was Euros 121,7 million and net profit Euros 96 million. Since the organizations have not yet merged the results are pro forma.

The supervisory board will be composed of nine members: Jean Peterbroeck (B), Jean Blondeau (F), André Dirckx (B), Dominique Hoenn (F), Aad Jacobs (NL), Han Kleiterp (NL), René de La Serre (F), Remi Vermeiren (B), Jan Michiel Hessels (NL). It will headed by Jan Michiel Hessels. There will be 3 additionals members to be selected by supervisory and managing boards.
