Euronext Amsterdam: UPC Out Of AEX Index On 14 February

With effect from Thursday 14 February 2002, United Pan-Europe Communications (UPC) will no longer be included in the AEX index. The removal of the company from the index is a consequence of the listing measure that Euronext imposed on 14 November 2001.

When the listing measure was imposed, Euronext announced that UPC would continue to be included in the AEX index and the Next 150 index for up to three months, in accordance with the index ground rules. However, following the periodical reweighting of the Next 150 index on 30 November 2001, UPC was removed from that index on 2 January 2002.

Following the close of the markets on Wednesday 13 February, UPC's weighting in the AEX index will be divided proportionally among the remaining 24 constituents, which will therefore have new weightings as from Thursday 14 February.
