The two Eurex Exchange futures contracts newly listed last week have already generated considerable trading volume in their first week of trading.
The Euro-BONO-Futures contract, launched on 26 October, has achieved an average daily volume of more than 1,000 contracts since its launch, in total 7,008 contracts. The open interest currently stands at 2,453 contracts. More than 35 participants were active during the course of the week, while the average spread is 2-3 ticks thanks to four active market makers.
The Mini-DAX-Futures contracts have been available since 28 October. In the first five trading days, on average 4,455 contracts were recorded, in total almost 22,300 contracts. The open interest currently stands at 2,038 contracts. More than 70 participants were active in the first days of trading. Currently, 12 market makers quote the product, and the average spread is 1-2 ticks.
“We are pleased that both our new contracts were so well-received by the market, and we expect to have more new participants over the next days and weeks,” said Mehtap Dinc, member of the Eurex Executive Board, responsible for Global Product Research and Development.
