Eurex Launches Stock Options On French Dow Jones Euro STOXX 50 Equities - Continuing Growth In Importance Of European Index

Date 02/11/2000

Eurex, the international derivatives market, is introducing options and LEPOs (Low Exercise Price Options) on eight French equities. Trading in the new products is set to begin on November 20, 2000. Eurex is thus adding 16 products to its European equity options segment and further expanding its leading market position in this segment. The eight equities are: Aventis, AXA UAP, BNP Paribas, Carrefour, France Telecom, L´Oreal, Total Fina and Vivendi. A total of 32 equities from the Dow Jones Euro STOXX 50 which currently make up over 75 percent of the market capitalization of the whole index can now be traded at Eurex.

Eurex is expanding the stock option segment in line with the wishes of international participants as well as the steadily growing importance of the Dow Jones Euro STOXX 50 index. The market participants thus have further enhanced opportunities to trade the Dow Jones STOXX index derivatives as well as the relevant stock options on a single platform at the lowest exchange prices in Europe.

On October 23, Eurex had already introduced the two new Dutch stock options on Ahold and KPN. Since that time, all eight Dutch Dow Jones Euro STOXX 50 equities have been tradable as stock options and LEPOs at Eurex.
