Eurex Has New Stock Options On German And Swiss Blue Chips - Options On Deutsche Post World Net, MLP, Julius Baer, Kudelski, Richemont, Serono And Unaxis

Date 14/11/2000

Eurex, the international derivatives market, is launching seven new stock options on November 20, namely on the two German companies, Deutsche Post World Net, which will be listed on the exchange as of that date, and MLP, as well as the five Swiss blue chips Julius Baer, Kudelski, Richemont, Serono and Unaxis. At the end of October, Eurex had already announced the initiation of trading in eight French stock options on November 20.

With the launch of the new stock options, Eurex is expanding its range of products for institutional and private investors. The market interest in European stock options is continuing to rise steadily, as the derivatives market reported. Eurex had already expanded its international stock options segment with two Dutch products in October. As of November 20, there will thus be 32 options on Dow Jones Euro-STOXX 50 equities available for trading. On November 13, Eurex launched the options on Syngenta, a spin-off of Novartis and Astra Zenica.

Seventy-eight million contracts have already been traded in the equity options segment at Eurex this year. This represents an increase of more than 42 percent over the number traded during the same period of last year.

Eurex launched a series of events (workshops) for private investors in Germany and Switzerland this year which has been very successful. This year’s increase in the equity options segment is also attributable to the growth in interest among retail customers at Eurex.
