"Italy is an important growth market for Eurex", said Rudolf Ferscha, CEO of Eurex. We want to acquire new groups of clients in Italy for our new Italian products and for our global benchmark products."
Eurex, the largest derivatives exchange in the world, has been systematically developing its segment for futures and options on Italian stocks and indices since the beginning of this year. Investors can trade futures and options on the Dow Jones Italy Titans 30, a well as options on the 12 most liquid Italian equities. As a result of the cross-margining of options and futures on the Dow Jones Italy Titans 30 with derivatives on the DAX, EuroStoxx 50, and SMI, market participants are able to profit not only from the expanded trading opportunities, but also from lower fees. The rising number of Italian and global market makers on Eurex represents the high level of interest in Italian derivatives. Market makers help reduce bid-ask spreads and make trading more liquid and cost-effective. The volume of futures and options traded on Italian stocks and indices almost tripled year-on-year during the first nine months of the year.
