EU Energy Market Data Centralised And More Accessible With ACER’s New REMIT Tools

Date 15/05/2025

The EU Regulation on Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT) aims to prevent wholesale energy market abuse and support fair competition. When the regulation was revised in 2024, ACER was tasked with:

  • establishing a REMIT Data Reference Centre to house information on EU wholesale energy market data, and with
  • creating a single Inside Information Access Point.

ACER REMIT Data Reference Centre – a new approach to REMIT data

ACER’s new REMIT Data Reference Centre brings together EU wholesale energy market data reported under REMIT in a downloadable, aggregated and harmonised format for the first time. This marks an important step towards greater market transparency, offering market participants, analysts and researchers a tool to explore, filter and download data for further analysis.

This first release includes nine datasets covering trading activity in electricity, natural gas and LNG markets, as well as market participant categorisation. The datasets reflect trading activity from January to March 2025. The ACER REMIT Data Reference Centre will be enhanced in the future and updated regularly with newly collected data.

ACER Inside Information Access Point – a single gateway to REMIT disclosures

Market players are obliged to disclose inside information via Inside Information Platforms (IIPs) – online platforms approved by ACER for publishing such disclosures. ACER’s new Inside Information Access Point serves as a single gateway to inside information published across 23 approved platforms, making it easier for market participants to check and compare disclosures.

It improves access to planned maintenance and unplanned disruptions across EU energy assets, supporting transparency, public understanding of market dynamics and more coordinated asset management by operators and policymakers. It also helps energy exchanges, brokers and capacity allocation platforms meet new REMIT obligations.

The Access Point collects data on outages, service interruptions and maintenance events affecting gas and electricity production, transmission and consumption. Users can filter and export the information collected daily by ACER.
