ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs/ETPs ecosystem, reported today that ETFs and ETPs listed in US gained net inflows of US$10.15 billion during February, bringing year-to-date net inflows to US$52.05 billion which is higher than the US$21.93 billion inflows gathered at this point last year. Assets invested in the US ETFs/ETPs industry have decreased by 5.9%, from US$4.44 trillion at the end of January, to US$4.18 trillion, according to ETFGI's February 2020 US ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, an annual paid-for research subscription service. - At the end of February 2020, ETFs/ETPs listed in US attracted $10.15 billion in net inflows with Fixed Income products dominating all other asset classes.

At the end of February, the S&P 500 was down 8.2% as coronavirus cases continued to spread and the potential economic impact weighed on investors and the markets. Outside the U.S., the S&P Developed ex-U.S. BMI declined nearly 9.0%. The S&P Emerging BMI lost 5.1% during the month. Global equities as measured by the S&P Global BMI ended down 8.1% with 49 of 50 included country indices down, while China gained 0.9%.” According to Deborah Fuhr, managing partner, founder and owner of ETFGI.

At the end of February 2020, the US ETFs/ETPs industry had 2,350 ETFs/ETPs, from 158 providers on 3 exchanges.
At the end of February 2020, ETFs/ETPs gathered net inflows of $10.15 billion. Equity ETFs/ETPs listed in US reported net outflows of $7.49 billion during February, bringing YTD net inflows for 2020 to $12.45 billion, which is much greater than the $2.74 billion in net outflows Equity products suffered for the corresponding period in 2019. Fixed Income ETFs/ETPs listed in US attracted net inflows of $10.71 billion during February, bringing YTD net inflows for 2020 to $24.31 billion, slightly higher than the $22.12 billion in net inflows for the corresponding period in 2019. Commodity ETFs/ETPs reported net inflows of $2.43 billion, bringing the YTD net inflows to
$4.31 billion for 2020, which is higher than the $471 million in net inflows year to date 2019.
Substantial inflows can be attributed to the top 20 ETFs by net new assets, which collectively gathered $34.26 billion at the end of February, the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV US) gathered $6.88 billion alone.
