ETF Quarterly Statistics: 3rd Quarter Of 2014 - This Report Provides Detailed Figures Regarding The Performance Of SIX Swiss Exchange's ETF Segment In The Third Quarter Of 2014

In the first nine months of 2014 the Swiss stock exchange saw CHF 66.9 billion of trading volume in ETFs, exceeding the second quarter by 18%. This was revealed today in the latest edition of ETF Quarterly Statistics[PDF]. There were 209'581 ETF transactions carried out on SIX Swiss Exchange in the third quarter. Average transaction size was CHF 99'971, slightly down on the second quarter.

Most-traded products

After a break of two quarters the most-traded ETF was once again the iShares SMI (formerly CS ETF on SMI), with CHF 1'023 billion traded, followed amongst others by UBS ETF - MSCI EMU with CHF 478 million in fourth place and DB X-TR MSCI EM with CHF 304 million at number nine in the top 10 products.

955 listed ETFs

During the third quarter 2014, 48 new ETFs were listed on SIX Swiss Exchange. Of these, five are actively managed, one is the first ETF to trade in SGD and two products are part of the international settlement initiative. At the end of September 2014 there were 955 products on the ETF segment on the Swiss stock exchange (including 18 actively managed ETFs and 283 traded in additional trading currencies) from 18 providers; 23 official market makers provide liquidity.
