Powernext and Metnext are pleased to announce the launch of a new unique temperature forecast through its pan-European weather and energy forecast service, enermet Trading.
This innovative temperature forecast is based on the combination of the two best weather models in Europe:
- ECMWF/IFS weather model, and
- ARPEGE, the in-house Meteo France weather model
These two complementary models have constantly provided the most accurate forecasts in the last years. By combining them, enermet Trading takes advantage of their strengths and lowers the variance of the resulting outputs, thus providing the best possible and consistent temperature forecasts.
Forecasts will be updated and provided three times per day, including two early-day runs.
This new service is available for 1300 weather stations all across Europe.
Furthermore, the combination of the two recognised models benefits enermet Trading’s country-level forecasts (power and gas consumptions, average country temperature, etc.).
Richard Katz, Powernext’s Sales and Communication Director, mentions: “The new enermet feature enables trading desks all over Europe to improve significantly their physical planning and price forecasting activities.”
Frédéric Bardoux, CEO of Metnext, adds: “After months of R&D by Metnext and Meteo France, we are proud to offer these new temperature forecasts that we believe are unrivalled in Europe. With this new evolution, Enermet Trading confirms its objective to be the leading energy & weather service”.
