E-mini S&P 500 Sets Volume Record

Volume in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's E-mini S&P 500 futures contract reached a record 82,817 contracts Feb. 28, as electronically traded volume in all equity index
products rose to a record 114,439 contracts.
The previous volume record for E-mini S&P 500 futures was set on Feb. 24 at 81,197. That date was the first occasion volume had surpassed 80,000 contracts.
E-mini S&P 500 futures, the CME's third most actively traded futures product, were launched in 1997.
E-mini S&P 500 futures and options trade on the CME's GLOBEX®2 system from 3:45
p.m. a.m. until 3:15 p.m. the following day. Other index products traded on GLOBEX2 include E-mini Nasdaq 100 futures as well as futures and options on standard-sized S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 indexes.
