E-Mini Nasdaq 100 Open Interest Soars Past 10,000 As Volume In Larger Contract Reaches New High - GSCI, EuroFX, EuroFX-British Pound Cross Rate Also Set Open Interest Records

Open interest in E-mini Nasdaq 100 Index® futures rose for the first time past the
10,000 level on Friday, reaching 10,408 at the close of trading. Also on Friday, single-day volume in the standard-size Nasdaq 100 futures set a new record of 26,056 contracts. Combined open interest in CME equity index futures products reached new levels of 618,307 positions. In addition, three other CME products have reached new highs in open interest: GSCI at 41,163, EuroFX at 87,295, and EuroFX-British pound cross rate at 1,488.
Most of the open interest records came on the heels of new high marks set in recent days. The previous records for GSCI and EuroFX were set Dec. 9 at 40,098 and 87,291, respectively, while E-mini Nasdaq 100 futures previously had record open interest of 9,672 on Dec. 7.
Open interest is the number of futures or options contracts outstanding at the close of trading.
