Electronic Trading Of IPE Oil Contracts Reach New Record Levels

Brent Crude futures and Gas Oil futures have traded over 100,000 lots electronically since extended hours was introduced last year on the IPE's electronic energy trading system, ETS II.

Thursday 15 March 2001 marked two records for extended hours trading. Brent Crude futures traded their highest level of 2565 lots equivalent to 2.5 million barrels of oil. Combined with the volume traded on Gas Oil this was also the highest recorded daily volume for extended hours with 2800 lots traded.

Stephen Gutteridge, Business Development Director said, "we are very pleased with the performance of ETS II, the volumes traded for each contract and the support we have received from our Members. With the recent launch of Electricity futures, we now have a comprehensive range of products available for trading on ETS II."
