Eka Acquires Stake In Commodity Handling Software Specialist MatrixGroup

Date 16/07/2013

Eka Software Solutions, a global provider of end-to-end commodity solutions, today announced that it has extended its commodity management platform with MatrixGroup, the state-of-the-art automated commodity handling software vendor.

Manav Garg, Eka CEO and founder, commented: “Our investment in MatrixGroup is a natural progression of growth for Eka as the leading provider of end-to-end commodity management solutions. MatrixGroup’s long-standing customer relationships and market-leading solutions extend Eka’s already deep experience in providing high-value commodity solutions. Both firms’ customers will benefit from increased margins through tighter controls in the commodities supply chain.”

The deal with MatrixGroup reinforces Eka’s growth strategy of complementing its organic growth with synergistic strategic investments. Earlier in April Eka acquired EnCompass Technologies, a provider of Energy Transaction and Risk Management software based in Calgary, Canada. MatrixGroup, established in Adelaide Australia in 1998, is a rapidly growing provider of automated commodity handling and management systems. MatrixGroup’s technology is used in more than 200 in-land locations and 20 export terminals in Australia and across South East Asia. MatrixGroup leads the market in commodity handling solutions, including bulk handling automation, warehousing and optimization systems for mining and agricultural commodity companies.

Alan Hurdsman, MatrixGroup’s CEO, said: "Partnering with Eka and leveraging their advanced R&D knowledge perfectly aligns with our vision of offering leading-edge commodity handling systems which address our clients' critical requirements. This investment means we can respond to our clients’ needs in the future and accelerate our expansion globally.”
