The Egyptian Exchange celebrated the World Investor Week (WIW) 2019 with a ringing of bell ceremony opening the trading of Monday 30 September 2019 with the theme of this year “Ringing of Bell for Financial Literacy".
Monday marks the beginning of World Investor Week for the year 2019 organized by the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) for the 3rd consecutive year in collaboration with the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) participating in this event for the first year. The celebration will be for the week 30 September to 4 October among 33 Stock Exchanges worldwide.
EGX was invited to participate in this event by the World Federation of Exchanges, of which it is a board member.
Mohamed Farid Saleh, EGX Chairman, said that the Stock Exchange management strongly believes in raising the levels of financial (literacy )knowledge to create new financially aware generations as the Exchange is working in coordination with all stakeholders (relevant parties) for introducing basics of investment to school and university students.
He added that EGX targeted the training of about 8000 students distributed around 4 universities. EGX conducted workshops & lectures that benefited nearly 6,260 students in 2018, up from 5,278 in 2017 and about 2,000 in 2016.
Worth mentioning that this year EGX signed 5 memorandums of cooperation with several public and private universities for expanding the base of student’s awareness benefiting from this program. EGX is targeting to reach 8000 students this curriculum year.
