EGX Is Hosting 25 Heads Of European And Asian Stock Markets In Sharm El Sheikh

Date 15/11/2016

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) is hosting the annual conference of the Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges (FEAS) in Sharm El-Sheikh in presence of more than 25 heads of European, Asian and Arab Exchanges on 16 and 17 November.

Dr. Mohammad Omran, EGX Chairman, clarified that EGX decision to host FEAS annual meetings is an affirmation of EGX restoration for its regional position as a leading market on the emerging markets’ level, stressing that EGX presidency of the federation focused on mechanisms to develop a platform to defend the emerging markets interests and strengthen their position at the international level.

Omran confirmed that FEAS Board and General Assembly meetings will study the ways to restructure the federation to overcome the difficulties faced in the recent years, and to restore its role in supporting the member exchanges, as well as to develop strategies that would increase the investments coming to the federation, furthermore to support the legislative and regulatory structure of the members and to achieve a degree of consensus among them to keep up with the international standards.

It’s worth noting that EGX holds the presidency of FEAS since 2014, where it was elected for the first time for that position after nearly 20 years of Istanbul Stock Exchange presidency of the federation.
