EGX Holds Its 8th Edition Of "EGX For Development" Forum Attended By The Governor Of Beheira

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) held the eighth edition of the "EGX for Development" forum in Beheira Governorate, under the esteemed patronage of the Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.

The forum was attended by Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Governor of Beheira; Ahmed El-Sheikh, Chairman of EGX, and Dr. Elhamy Trabies, President of Damanhour University. The forum took place at the Damanhour Cultural Complex and attracted a diverse audience, including prominent economic figures, business leaders, deans and professors from Damanhour University, students, and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and the Businessmen's Association.

The event began with the national anthem, followed by a documentary film showcasing the history of EGX, which spans over a century, highlighting its pioneering role since its inception.

Ahmed El-Sheikh, Chairman of EGX, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for hosting the forum in Beheira. He emphasized EGX's commitment to promoting financial literacy among youth and expanding the investor base across various governorates.

He explained that financial markets provide diverse opportunities for companies to enhance their funding sources. He stressed the importance of raising investment awareness, particularly among youth, to shift perceptions of EGX form being seen as a platform for speculation to being recognized as a means for investment and economic development.

El-Sheikh highlighted the need to cultivate a culture of cumulative savings among individuals, transforming these saving into well-planned investments. He provided a detailed overview of the advantages of listing on EGX, emphasizing its role in providing growth-oriented companies with funding necessary for expansion, thereby benefiting the national economy and creating new job opportunities.

Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Governor of Beheira, began her speech by emphasizing the importance of enhancing financial awareness among youth. She stated that events like this forum broaden horizons for economic and financial education, reaffirming the vital role of EGX in supporting national economic growth and fostering financial literacy across various segments of society.

She invited entrepreneurs and industrialists in Beheira to explore the benefits of EGX, noting that it offers the necessary governance to ensure sustainable progress and growth. She also highlighted Beheira's considerable  potential for investment in agriculture, industry, and tourism.

Dr. Elhamy Trabies, President of Damanhour University, expressed his pleasure at hosting the forum. He emphasized the university's commitment to equipping students with financial knowledge through educational and training programs that enable them make informed investment decisions.

The forum concluded with the signing of a cooperation protocol between EGX, represented by Ahmed El-Sheikh, and Damanhour University, represented by Dr. Elhamy Trabies. The protocol aims to promote financial literacy among students, provide specialized training programs, and encourage safe investment practices to prepare a new generation of economically informed youth.

During the Q&A session at the end of the forum, attendees engaged with EGX representatives to discuss topics such as listing requirements, company readiness for public offerings, and the importance of adhering to transparency and governance standards to ensure successful outcomes in the financial markets.
