Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Chairman of the Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges (FEAS) and Executive Chairman of The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) chaired the annual meetings of FEAS held in Yerevan, Armenia in November 2021.
Dr. Mohammed Farid, Chairman of FEAS and Executive Chairman of EGX, said, "All possible efforts will be exerted for the capacity building of FEAS members for more attractive markets for international investments, as well as strengthening channels of communication and improve visibility to contribute to the activation of trades and liquidity."
The Board and General Assembly meetings held during the first day discussed the Federation's financial statements and strategic plan 2022-2024 aiming for the business development and attracting new members to join the federation. The meetings discussed activities to increase the efficiency of member exchanges and clearing houses to increase the attractiveness of its member markets and their appeal internationally.
Efforts to raise awareness of the capital markets and increase financial literacy to current investors is another important goal of the federation; The Federation is currently working collectively to formulate educational materials in several languages addressing young generations at schools and universities on the basics of investing in capital markets. This would eventually attract new investors and thus help in increasing markets liquidity.
Capital Market Talks event was held in the second day. The meetings witnessed the presence of government business and economic leaders, including the Armenian Minister of Economy, His Deputy Minister of Finance, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, the Executive Chairman of the Armenian Banking Union and the President of the Iraqi Capital Market Authority, as well as the members of the FEAS. The event discussed two topics; Capital Market Development Incentives & the Role of Technology and Prospects of Post-Trade Infrastructure. Participants discussed ways to achieve the objectives and development of FEAS, including financial technology and its role in the development of the business of the markets of common concern during the pandemic period.
