On June 8th, CME CEO Craig Donohue addressed the 10th European Financial Markets Convention in Zurich, where he presented a U.S. and derivatives market perspective on the central question of whether European regulators should mandate the establishment of a single monopoly provider of central counterparty clearing services (CCPs) or whether existing and variously organized CCPs should be permitted to evolve in response to the very dynamic and competitive market forces that are evident in today’s global financial markets.
