EEX Trading Results In November

In November 2006, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) saw a total volume in electricity trading of the amount of 105.2 TWh (same month last year: 60,5 TWh).

Of this amount, 7,711,005 MWh (same month last year: 8.291.674 MWh) were traded on the electricity Spot Market. On the electricity Spot Market, the base load price (Phelix Base Month) was 50.92 Euro/MWh on a monthly average and peak load (Phelix Peak Month) cost 78.72 Euro/MWh.

On the Intraday Market, which started on September 25, 2006, the total volume traded was 101,329 MWh. During November, 52,968.20 MWh were traded via this platform.

In November, the volume in electricity derivatives amounted 97.4 TWh (same month last year: 52,2 TWh). The Derivatives Market volume includes 69.2 TWh from OTC clearing. On November 30, 2006 the Open Interest was 302.2 TWh. On November 30, 2006 the price for base load in Germany for the year 2007 was determined at 53.30 Euro/MWh and the price for peak load in Germany for the year 2007 was determined at 81.59 Euro/MWh.

In November, 1,013,450 EU Allowances (same month last year: 431.001 EUA) were traded on the EEX Spot Market for EU Allowances. During this period, the Carbix (Carbon Index) ranged between 7.40 Euro/EU Allowances and 10.80 Euro/EU Allowances.

On the EEX Derivatives Market for EU Allowances the volume traded was 185,000 EU Allowances (same month last year: 98,000 EUA). On November 29, 2006 the price for the year 2006 contract was determined at 8.08 Euro/EU Allowances, while the price for the year 2008 contract was 18.17 Euro/EU Allowances on November 30, 2006.

On the EEX Derivatives Market for Coal Futures, which started on May 2, 2006, the volume from OTC clearing was 120,000 tonnes in November. The Open Interest amounted to 1,379,000 t.

156 companies from 19 countries are currently trading on the European Energy Exchange. Neither new admissions nor cancellations of membership were recorded in November.
