EEX Trading Results In May

In May 2005, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) saw a total turnover of 35.9 TWh. Of this amount, 6.995.461 MWh were traded on the Spot Market.

28.9 TWh were traded on the Derivatives Market. Of this amount, 23.0 TWh were traded in yearly futures and 0.4 TWh in yearly options. The volume in quarterly futures was 2.2 TWh and 3.3 TWh in monthly futures. The Derivatives Market“s volume in-cludes 14,7 TWh from OTC Clearing. The Open Interest on May 31, 2005 was 119.2 TWh in futures and 4.9 TWh in options.

In May, 36.210 EU Allowances were traded. One of them entitles to the emission of one ton of CO2.

On the Spot Market base load was worth 37.81 Euro/MWh in the monthly average and peak load 43.15 Euro/MWh. On the Derivatives Market to date May 31, 2005, the base load for 2006 was traded at 39.63 Euro/MWh and the peak load at 52.59 Euro/MWh.
