EEX Trading Results And New Admissions In June 2007

Electricity trading volume on the European Energy Exchange (EEX) in June 2007 totalled 96.1 TWh, compared with 69.3 TWh in June 2006.

This includes 8,907,414 MWh (June 2006: 6,663,955) traded on the electricity Spot Market, where the average base load price (Phelix Base Month) for the month was 35.77 Euro/MWh and the peak load price (Phelix Peak Month) 58.01 Euro/MWh.

Intraday volume in June 2007 was 108,260 MWh.

On the Swiss electricity Spot Market June volume was 318,280 MWh.

Trading volume in electricity derivatives in June 2007 totalled 87.2 TWh (June 2006: 62.6 TWh). This includes 74.8 TWh from OTC clearing. The Open Interest at 29 June 2007 was 304.6 TWh. The 2008 base load price for German electricity was fixed at 56.65 Euro/MWh on 29 June 2007 and the 2008 peak load price at 79.80 Euro/MWh.

A total of 155,250 EU Allowances (EUA) were traded on the Spot Market in June, compared with 344,696 EUAs in June 2006. During the month, the Carbix (Carbon Index) ranged between 0.07 Euro/EUA and 0,25 Euro/EUA.

Volume on the EEX Derivatives Market was 2,022,000 EUAs (350,000 EUAs June 2006). The 2007 contract was fixed at 0.14 Euro/EUA on 29 June 2007, and the 2008 contract at 22.42 Euro/EUA.

EEX currently has 172 member companies from 19 countries. actogas GmbH, Munich, Constellation Energy Commodities Group Inc., Baltimore (USA), Consus France S.A.R.L., Paris (France), E.ON Ruhrgas AG, Essen, KoM-SOLUTION GmbH, Odernheim and VNG – Verbundnetz Gas Aktiengesellschaft, Leipzig, were admitted to the EEX Spot and Derivatives Market. Compagnie Nationale du Rhone, Lyon (France), Elbis sp.zo.o, Rogowiec (Poland), Exen s.r.o., Ostrava (Czech Republic) und Vitol S. A., Genf (Switzerland) were admitted to the EEX Spot Market in June. E.ON Avacon AG, Helmstedt has cancelled its membership.
