EEX Trading Results And New Admissions In April 2007

Electricity trading volume on the European Energy Exchange (EEX) in March 2007 totalled 84.2 TWh, compared with 126.2 TWh in April 2006.

This includes 9,087,753 MWh (April 2006: 7,184,293) traded on the electricity Spot Market, where the average base load price (Phelix Base Month) for the month was 31.06 Euro/MWh and the peak load price (Phelix Peak Month) 42.41 Euro/MWh.

Intraday volume in April 2007 was 79,773 MWh.

On the Swiss electricity Spot Market, where trading began on December 12, 2006, April volume was 409,040 MWh.

Trading volume in electricity derivatives in April 2007 totalled 75.1 TWh (April 2006: 119.0 TWh). This includes 64.6 TWh from OTC clearing. The Open Interest at 30 April 2007 was 294 TWh. The 2008 base load price for German electricity was fixed at 55.45 Euro/MWh on 30 April 2007 and the 2008 peak load price at 83.04 Euro/MWh.

A total of 742,741 EU Allowances (EUA) were traded on the Spot Market in April, com-pared with 1,067,814 EUAs in April 2006. During the month, the Carbix (Carbon Index) ranged between 0.45 Euro/EUA and 1.30 Euro/EUA. Volume on the EEX Derivatives Market was 1,951,000 EUAs (185,000 EUAs April 2006). The 2007 contract was fixed at 0.54 Euro/EUA on 30 April 2007, and the 2008 contract at 18.95 Euro/EUA.

EEX currently has 164 member companies from 19 countries. Citigroup Global Markets Ltd., London, Nidera Handelscompagnie B.V., Rotterdam and UBS AG London Branch were admitted to the Spot and Derivatives Market in April.

24/7 Trading GmbH, a subsidiary of 24sieben GmbH and MVV Energie AG was admit-ted to the Spot and Derivatives Market. This coincides with the expiration of the admit tance of 24sieben GmbH as well as of the admittance of MVV Energie AG to the Spot Market.

Lehman Brothers International (Europe) was admitted to the Spot Market and Lumius, spol. sr.o. was admitted to the Derivatives Market. Both are already trading members at EEX. Stadtwerke Cottbus GmbH has given back their admittance to the exchange on the 30 April 2007.
