Upon consultation with the European Commission and the participating Member States, with the German and Polish authorities, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) has determined the 2014 auction calendar for EU allowances (EUA) of the third trading period.
EU auction platform
In its capacity as the transitional common auction platform appointed by 25 Member States, EEX will conduct the EUA auctions on three days per week – each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday – from 7 January through 16 December 2014.
Auctions for Germany
In its capacity as the auction platform appointed by the Federal Republic of Germany, EEX will conduct EUA auctions on each Friday, starting on 10 January through 12 December 2014.
Auctions for Poland
EEX will conduct EUA auctions for Poland on Wednesdays once every four weeks, starting on 8 January through 10 December 2014. EEX conducts these auctions on a transitional basis in its capacity as the common auction platform pending the appoint- ment by Poland of its ‘own’ auction platform.
For all these EUA auctions on the Spot Market the bidding window will be open from 9.00 to 11.00 a.m. CET.
More detailed information is available in the Auction Calendar published on the EEX website: http://www.eex.com/en/Download/Documentation.
If necessary, EEX will inform about any adjustments to the 2014 Auction Calendar as soon as possible and at a minimum of two weeks in advance of the changes taking ef- fect.
Throughout the year 2013, EEX has conducted 181 auctions of EU allowances of the third trading period, comprising a volume of 637 million of EUAs.
