EEX, Innogy And Süwag Launch Enermarket B2B Portal For Online Price Comparisons

The European Energy Exchange (EEX), innogy and Süwag have set up the joint venture - enermarket GmbH. Via the enermarket B2B platform, business customers can quickly and easily find the right power and gas supplier through an independent comparison of offers and, as a result, cut their energy costs in the long run.

So far, finding a new energy provider has been a tedious process for business customers since the contracts are always negotiated bilaterally. After customers have entered information on their industry, i.e. the delivery period and consumption, enermarket will provide a comparison of energy prices and product details for the different suppliers. Customers can then select the most suitable offer and order the product directly from the energy supplier. As a result, this new portal offers small and medium-sized business customers speed and transparency in the procurement process without any additional costs for an energy consultant.

Steffen Köhler, Chief Operating Officer of EEX, explains: “EEX is already well-established as a market operator in the B2B segment. With enermarket, we are extending our offering which brings buyers and sellers together. As the leading European energy exchange, EEX stands for  transparency and independence which the customers expect in their search for the most suitable electricity tariffs. At present, we are working to acquire as many market partners as possible that are willing to offer their products on enermarket so that we can launch the platform in the course of the year. Therefore, we are very pleased to welcome innogy and Süwag as the first big energy suppliers to join this project. “

Markus Lammers, head of B2B Germany at innogy, emphasises the aim of this online portal: “enermarket is the new B2B market platform for energy products with which we will be able to establish a sound position in the B2B online business early on. We have implemented this in line with business customers’ demand for digital solutions and now offer suppliers an efficient sales channel at a national level.”
