EEX: First Trade In Dutch Power Futures

On Friday, 22 November, the first trades in Dutch Power Futures were concluded on the European Energy Exchange (EEX).

The two transactions in the year contract for delivery in January 2015 have been conducted between Cross Energy Trading and ICAP Energy, on behalf of Brainchild Capital Investments BV at a price of EUR 42.60 per MWh and EUR 42.65 per MWh, respectively. Each trade had a volume of 43,800 MWh.

EEX offers power futures for Belgium, Germany/Austria, France and the Netherlands. Furthermore, bilaterally closed transactions for these countries as well as for Italy, Romania, Scandinavia and Switzerland can be registered on EEX for clearing via European Commodity Clearing (ECC). In June 2013, EEX launched trading in Guarantees of Origin.
