Today, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) concluded successfully the first primary market auction of EU Aviation Allowances (EUAA) for the year 2012 on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.
As planned, a volume of 2,500,000 EUAA was auctioned on the Spot Market at 11:00am. The price in the auction was established at EUR 7.01 per EUAA. The total amount of bids was 4,552,000 EUAA. Thus, participants demanded 1.8 times the auction volume. Today, 6 participants took part in the auction.
“As the first exchange we have concluded a primary market auction for EU Aviation Allowances. Moreover, EEX has determined an official spot market price for Aviation Allowances for the first time”, emphasises Peter Reitz, Chief Executive Officer of EEX, the relevance of today’s auction.
The second German auction for EUAAs for the year 2012 is scheduled to take place on 14 November 2012 on the EEX Spot Market.
