EEX: Call For Applications For The 2013 “Excellence Award” Term For The Submission Of Application Ends At The End Of September

Date 03/06/2013

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) issues the third call for applications for the EEX Excellence Award for outstanding research papers. Students and graduates are invited to submit their applications by 30 September 2013. Applications are subject to the precondition that the research paper or final thesis was com- pleted in the second half of 2012 or in 2013.

EEX focuses, in particular, on research papers or final theses that deal with current technical, economic or political questions in the fields of energy and exchange trading. Awards will be given for up to five theses or scientific research papers that are convinc- ing on account of their creative approach and that provide new solutions to the problem cited, in addition to their containing an in-depth discussion.

The 2012 EEX Excellence Award was presented in the presence of the EU Energy Commissioner Connie Hedegaard on 9 April 2013 in the framework of the spring re- ception by the EEX Brussels office. In addition to three master’s and final theses, a doctoral dissertation also received an award. Iris Weidinger, Chief Financial Officer of EEX, is pleased about both the quality of the theses submitted and about the broad range of subjects covered. “I am pleased to see how intensively young people investi- gate the different aspects of the energy market and how they look at these aspects from different perspectives. This year, we are again looking forward to a large number of interesting applications”, emphasises Iris Weidinger.
