EEX: 390,000 Megawatt Hours Of Electricity Traded In October - Million-Hour Mark Already Exceeded In Third Month

EEX, the European Energy Exchange, reported its turnover figures for October on Tuesday. EEX reported a monthly volume of 390,354 Megawatt Hours (MWh) of electricity. This is represents a slight increase compared to last months figures (377,668 MWh). After only three months of operation, EEX topped the million-hour mark in electricity trading with a total of 1,048,015 MWh traded by the end of October.

Of the total volume, 85,196 MWh were traded in individual hours and 305,158 MWh were traded in blocks. In trading of blocks, 142,620 MWh were peak load and 162,538 MWh were base load.

The prices in the case of peak-load blocks amounted to 26.45 euros per MWh on a volume-weighted daily average in October, and ranged between 21.50 and 33.5 euros per MWh. In trading of base-load blocks, the prices ranged between 9.0 and 25.5 euros per MWh; in the case of individual hours, the average daily prices ranged between 8.8 and 24.4 euros per MWh.
