Dubai Mercantile Exchange Launches Global Seminar Roadshow - Details Of New Futures Contract To Be Revealed To Industry

Date 13/02/2008

The Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME) confirmed today that it will be conducting an international seminar roadshow during February and March 2008 to update the energy and trading community in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America on the latest developments at the DME.

The free seminars will be conducted by senior DME management and are already heavily subscribed. The series kicks off in London on 18 February during International Petroleum Week, the largest industry event of its kind in Europe. Further seminars will follow in Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore, New York and Chicago.

During the seminars, DME customers will be introduced to the new futures contract which the Exchange is planning to launch in the near future. Recent rule changes, the implementation of block trades, NYMEX Clearport Clearing and other DME-related topics will also be discussed.

Gary King, Chief Executive Officer of the DME, commented: “These seminars are a wonderful opportunity for us to update the global industry on the encouraging progress that we continue to make as the Middle East’s first and leading energy futures and commodities exchange. January was our most successful month to date, setting new records for trading volumes and open interest. And the DME’s Oman Crude Oil Futures Contract has already established itself as the global benchmark for pricing Middle East sour crude oil.

“We plan to build on this success over the coming months and years and will be sharing our plans for the future with the industry. We also want to thank them for the amazing support that they have given us before, during and after our successful launch in June last year.”
