Dr Miguel Athayde Marques will start at Euronext as of 1 January 2005.

Dr Miguel Athayde Marques, 49, has extensive experience in the financial industry. In February 2000 he was appointed an executive member of the board of CGD – Caixa Geral de Depósitos S.A. – Portugal’s largest bank. In addition to his responsibilities for CGD, Dr Miguel Athayde Marques also served as a non-executive board member at SIBS S.A., a Portuguese interbank corporation. Prior to working for CGD, from 1996 to 2000 he was a board member at Jerónimo Martins, a listed company active in international retail and distribution based in Portugal. From 1992 to 1996, he was chairman and CEO of ICEP, the Portuguese government agency responsible for promoting inward and outward investment, export and tourism. He also acted as a consultant to the Portuguese Ministry of Finance on the development of the Portuguese stock markets.
Dr Miguel Athayde Marques has a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Glasgow School of Financial Studies and graduated in Business Administration from the Universidade Católica in Lisbon. He is married and has two children.
The appointment of Dr Miguel Athayde Marques as CEO of Euronext Lisbon is subject to regulatory approval by the Portuguese regulator, CMVM.
Dr Miguel Athayde Marques ’s nomination as a member of the Managing Board of Euronext NV is also subject to regulatory approval. Euronext’s shareholders’ meeting will be notified of this intended appointment at its meeting on 1 June 2005. The Dutch Works Council will be given the opportunity to render its advice on the intended appointment and Euronext’s European Works Council will be informed accordingly.
