Dr Draško Veselinovic Resigns Post Of President Management Board Ljubljana Stock Exchange

Date 18/06/2004

On 14 June 2004, the Supervisory Board of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange met for its regular session, at which Dr Draško Veselinovic handed over his resignation from the post of the President of the Management Board. The Supervisory Board has expressed respect for the decision of Mr Veselinovic; they have accepted his resignation and thanked him for all his efforts invested in the management of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange from its establishment onwards.

The institution which he had helped establish and whose President of the Management Board and CEO he has been for the past 15 years has been operating successfully during all this time. Mr Veselinovic has been actively pursuing the idea of the financial market being treated equally and adequately within the Slovene financial sector, as the macroeconomic environment as well as others were not particularly well disposed to the securities market. By meeting high international standards, however, the Ljubljana Stock Exchange became a full member of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) already as early as 1997.

The Ljubljana Stock Exchange now faces important decisions in order to locate its position within the wider financial environment. Provided that it enjoys the benefits of a good management team, these decisions should be rather straightforward as the Exchange is well prepared for the challenges of the future. The key topics of “The Strategy and Guidelines of the Stock Exchange” involve a strategic business partner from one of the highly developed EU member countries, effective business operations, an increase in quality and consequently more competitive position, new products and a leading role in the region.

Mr Veselinovic believes that without doubt the Ljubljana Stock Exchange with its young, educated and ambitious staff and with greater appreciation by the broader economic policy, will represent an important financial meeting point also in the future.
