Dow Jones Indexes To Add Banco Santander Brasil S.A. Added To Dow Jones Emerging Markets Sector Titans Composite 100 Index - CPFL Energia S.A. Selected To Dow Jones Brazil Titans 20 ADR Index

The sale of Brazil’s Tele Norte Leste Participacoes S.A. to Oi S.A. of Brazil has prompted Tele Norte Leste Participacoes to be removed from four of Dow Jones Indexes’ market gauges.

Dow Jones Indexes, a global index provider, today announced that Tele Norte Leste Participacoes will be removed from:

  • the Dow Jones BRIC 50 DR Index and replaced by Banco Santander Brasil S.A. ADS;
  • the Dow Jones Emerging Markets Telecommunications Titans 30 Index and replaced by Total Access Communication Public Company Limited;
  • the Dow Jones Emerging Markets Sector Titans Composite 100 Index and replaced by Telefonica Brasil S.A. ADS; and
  • the Dow Jones Brazil Titans 20 ADR Index and replaced by CPFL Energia S.A. ADS.

 All changes will be effective before the open of trading on April 9, 2012.

The Dow Jones BRIC 50 DR Index represents 50 of the largest and most liquid companies in the BRIC region using offshore listings. It includes 15 Depositary Receipts (DRs) or offshore listings each from Brazil, India and China, and five from Russia. It is float market cap weighted. Banco Santander Brasil S.A. is a commercial bank based in Brazil.

The Dow Jones Emerging Markets Telecommunications Titans 30 Index measures the stock performance of 30 leading emerging-market companies in the telecommunications industry. Stocks are selected to the index based on size, revenue and net profit. The index is float market cap weighted. Total Access Communication PCL is a telecommunication services provider, based in Thailand.

The Dow Jones Emerging Markets Sector Titans Composite 100 measures the stock performance of 100 of the largest emerging-market companies, selected equally from the 10 industries. Stocks are selected to the index based on size, revenue and net profit. The index is float market cap weighted. Telefonica Brasil S.A. of Brazil is a telephone communications company.

 The Dow Jones Brazil Titans 20 ADR Index represents 20 of the largest and most liquid Brazilian companies traded on the major exchanges of the U.S. CPFL Energia S.A. provides electric services.
