Overview
Direct Edge is making significant technology improvements to its core trading platform as part of our ongoing effort to reduce latency on both EDGA and EDGX Exchanges. These technology enhancements will greatly improve performance on both EDGA and EDGX.
In order to ensure uninterrupted connectivity to Direct Edge Exchanges, Members will be required to transition their ports from virtual IP addresses to given IP addresses for each logical port.
Impact
• Firms will no longer connect to Direct Edge exchanges using a virtual IP address for order entry or drop copies.
• Firms will receive specific IP addresses for each logical port to our primary facility.
• Firms will be required to connect to Direct Edge Exchanges using these given IP addresses at the end of this transition period.
• Session numbers will remain unchanged.
Transition Timing
• Effective Tuesday, November 1st, Members can begin to transition their ports for the EDGX Exchange. Contact Direct Edge Technical Support 201.942.8220 option #2 to receive your new IP address and schedule your transition.
• Members must complete the ports transition by Monday, November 28, 2011 for EDGA and Monday, December 12, 2011 for EDGX.
Action Required
• Permit new IP addresses through firewalls.
• Perform necessary connectivity testing.
• Transition ports to new IP addresses.
Testing Information
• Telnet tests will be available during the entire transition period.
• Production tests will also be available. Direct Edge will work closely with all of our Members to coordinate a seamless transition of ports to the new IP addresses.
