DIFX Welcomes Creation Of DFSA And Grant Of Licences

The DIFX, the DIFC’s international financial exchange, welcomes the establishment of the DFSA, the independent regulator of financial services in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The DIFX also welcomes the granting by the DFSA of its first licences to financial institutions to operate inside the DIFC.

The DIFX regards these events as important steps in its own development. The DIFX plans to apply to the DFSA for a licence to run a financial exchange in the DIFC. It also hopes that financial institutions inside the DIFC will be among those that become involved with the Exchange as members, issuers or investors.

Lynton Jones, Chairman of the DIFX, said: “The establishment of the DFSA as the independent regulatory authority will allow the DIFX to realise its aim of becoming a major international exchange. Issuers of equities, bonds and other securities, as well as investors and members, will find the DIFX a well regulated, stable and effective forum in which to operate.“
