Dubai Financial Market (DFM) hosted a special ceremony at its trading floor on Monday, 30 November 2015 to celebrate the 44th National Day of the United Arab Emirates as well as offering tribute to the country’s courageous martyrs. The ceremony was held in the presence of His Excellency Essa Kazim, Chairman of DFM and a large number of DFM employees, brokers and investors.
At 11:30 pm, the attendees honored the sacrifices of the brave UAE martyrs with a minute of silent devotions. Subsequently, the celebration commenced with flag hoisting, the UAE national anthem and pledge of allegiance. Act plays about the two occasions have been presented including; an act play titled (Union and the Martyrs) by students of Granada School, an act play by actor Abdulla Algafali and poem from Hamad Saif Al Shamsi titled (The Homeland and the Martyrs). The event also included competitions about the UAE’s momentous history and heritage.
H.E. Essa Kazim said; “As we celebrate the 44th National Day, we would like to congratulate their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates and the people of the UAE. This occasion honors the day when the founding fathers of our country joined hands for the superior welfare of the UAE people. We recall with pride and affection the appreciated efforts of the founding fathers, led by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and their highnesses the rulers to fortify the foundations of our beloved country. The wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the Rulers of the Emirates, has fostered and further strengthened these foundations, leading the UAE to become a highly admired and respected nation across the world. Henceforth, the Martyrs Commemoration Day adds a new aspect to the National Day, as an occasion to express our appreciation and proudness of the courageous sacrifices of UAE martyrs. Their sacrifices will always be treasured in our hearts and in the history of this country as the strongest evidence that the UAE has always been at the forefront of countries fighting for noble causes. It is also an opportunity to demonstrate our undisputed allegiance to our cherished country and its wise leadership.”
