Deutsche Börse Wants To Continue Growth In 2002 - Record Results For The Year In 2001

Date 02/04/2002

Deutsche Börse stands by its growth targets for the year 2002: "Diversified sources of revenue and further increases in efficiency form the basis for stability even in difficult market conditions. Based on our prognoses for last year, which we have surpassed by far, we are also expecting 10 to 15 percent growth in sales for the current business year as well as even higher growth in profitability before write-downs and one-time effects." Chief financial officer Mathias Hlubek made the statement at a press conference on Tuesday presenting the annual financial statements for the year 2001, which Deutsche Börse closed out with new record results.

The annual financial statements show a 17 percent increase in sales revenue, to 760.3 million euros, for financial 2001. The EBIT rose 28 percent to 278.1 million euros. Deutsche Börse was thus well ahead of its growth targets of 15 percent in sales and 20 percent in EBIT. The earnings per share rose from 1.95 euros to 2.04 euros. According to Hlubek, the Supervisory Board and Executive Board of Deutsche Börse will propose to the General Meeting that the dividend be increased 0.30 euros to 0.36 euros per share.
