Deutsche Börse: US Segment Now Set to Start On September 24

Date 19/09/2001

Deutsche Börse is launching its new US segment on September 24. The launch of the segment, originally scheduled for September 14, was postponed in response to the events that took place in the United States on Tuesday last week. The new segment will contain all U.S. stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), S&P 100, Nasdaq 100 and Dow Jones Global Titans 50, the so-called "Xetra US Stars". Index funds on the Dow Jones Global Titans 50 and Dow Jones Industrial Average can also be traded in the XTF segment. At Eurex, trading will begin at the same time in euro-denominated stock options on the 10 U.S. stocks AOL Time Warner, Cisco Systems, Citigroup, EMC, General Electric, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. Clearstream Banking will clear and settle the trades.

When the Xetra US Stars are launched, Dow Jones Indexes, one of the leading global index providers, will use the Xetra prices of the U.S. stocks for its calculations of the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Dow Jones Global Titans 50 before the markets open in the United States. On this basis, the Dow Jones Industrial Average will thus be calculated and published from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. CET before the pricing source will switch over to New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq prices.
