Deutsche Börse Updates Weightings In Equity Indices - Companies Replaced In The Indexes - Additional Decision On June 26 Regarding DAX And MDAX

Date 12/06/2001

As of Monday, June 18, new weights will apply for the companies in the share indices of Deutsche Börse. Deutsche Börse released the tentative figures on Tuesday; the final figures, based on the Xetra closing prices from Friday and the number of shares admitted to trading at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, will be published at the Deutsche Börse website on Saturday.

Deutsche Börse also calls attention to the changes in the composition of the MDAX, NEMAX 50 and SDAX. These changes will be implemented on June 18. The shares of Deutsche Börse are being included in the MDAX, taking the place of Philipp Holzmann in the index. Umweltkontor Renewable Energy is being included in the NEMAX 50 on Monday, replacing SER Systems. KSB, Münchmeyer Petersen Capital and Philipp Holzmann are being added to the SDAX, and Ehlebracht, Hach and OAR Consulting will be dropped from this index.

Deutsche Börse also points out that, as of Monday, the ordinary shares of SAP AG will be used for the DAX calculation, since SAP is converting preference shares into ordinary shares.

On June 26, the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse will decide on possible further changes in the DAX and MDAX. The decisions are related to the takeovers of Dresdner Bank by Allianz and of Ergo by Münchener Rückversicherung, which are currently in progress.

The exchange has also granted four companies a temporary exemption from the requirement to submit quarterly reports. The companies are Bilfinger+Berger AG, Dürr AG, Philipp Holzmann AG and Rheinmetall AG. The four companies are in the process of changing over their accounting procedures and therefore cannot meet the first-quarter reporting requirement. As already announced, DAX and MDAX companies have to submit quarterly reports as of first-quarter 2001. Companies that do not prepare quarterly reports as a matter of principle are taken out of the indexes.
