Deutsche Börse: Two New Lyxor ETFs Launched In XTF Segment On Xetra - Exposure To Dynamic Economic Regions Of China And Eastern Europe/ 2005 Most Successful Year For XTF Segment

Date 19/01/2006

Deutsche Börse is further expanding its XTF segment for exchange-traded funds on the Xetra pan-European trading platform. On Thursday, 19 January, two new products were issued by Lyxor International Asset Management, a 100 percent subsidiary of Société Générale. The new products enable investors to increase exposure to the economies of China and Eastern Europe.

The Lyxor ETF China Enterprise (ISIN: FR0010204081) allows retail and institutional investors to track the Hang Seng China Enterprise Index (HSCEI). This index covers leading Chinese shares, traded and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Investors benefit from exclusive exposure to the mainland Chinese economy through some of China's largest companies liquidly traded on a leading global market. The Lyxor ETF China Enterprise compliments existing exposure to the Chinese economy in Deutsche Börse’s XTF segment provided by the iShares FTSE / Xinhua China 25 ETF.

The second product, Lyxor ETF Eastern Europe (ISIN: FR0010204073), enables investors to diversify exposure to a region of dynamic growth. The Lyxor Eastern Europe product replicates the Euro denominated CECE Composite Index, covering leading Hungarian, Polish and Czech companies. This adds to the focused coverage of Eastern Europe within the XTF segment provided by the DJ STOXX EU Enlarged 15 EX fund.

"The launch of the products marks an excellent start to the year, and for the ongoing expansion of Deutsche Börse's XTF segment, unparalleled as Europe's strongest market for exchange-traded funds." said Rainer Riess, Deutsche Börse Managing Director and Head of Stock Market Business Development. "This builds on 2005 the best ever year for the XTF segment, in terms of trading volume, product diversity and assets under management."

In 2005, turnover in the XTF segment increased 43 percent to €46.1 billion compared with the previous year, with a 64 percent expansion of assets under management to a record level of €26.9 billion. A total of 79 index funds are now listed in the segment, with 23 new products added during 2005. Deutsche Börse’s XTF segment is the leading platform in Europe, with over 50 percent of European trading in exchange-traded funds and the largest listed ETF offering of any European exchange.
