Deutsche Börse Presents SMAX Quality Segment for Small Caps
Date 29/01/1999
Deutsche Börse AG is moving forward with its segmentation of the German stock market. The goal is to offer investors segments with a comparable risk/reward profile. On April 26, a new quality segment, SMAX, will be launched that is aimed at stock corporations in the first segment and second segment that rank just below the MDAX® (Mid-Cap DAX) companies. The main requisite for admission to this segment are a Designated Sponsor, expanded reporting obligations, acknowledgement of the Takeover Code and at least 20 percent of the shares must be in free float. Deutsche Börse is calculating two new indices for the SMAX quality segment: The SMAX All-Share Index, which will be launched simultaneously with SMAX, and the SDAX®, which will be calculated for the top 100 companies listed in SMAX.
