Deutsche Börse Expands Possibilities For Xetra Connection - Lower Costs Due To Four Customer-Specific Access Alternatives

Date 15/09/2000

As of October, Deutsche Börse is expanding the means of access available for connection to the Xetra electronic trading system. In the future, market participants will be able to choose from four different access alternatives with different performance characteristics and a corresponding fee schedule. This will allow them to adapt the Xetra connection even more closely to suit their needs. By expanding the connection portfolio to include the Internet medium, Deutsche Börse is taking a major step forward towards Internet-based trading platforms and offering the market cost-effective access alternatives at the same time, as the company stated.

The new connection alternatives and the related fee models differ with regard to the use of dedicated lines and use of the Internet. Compared to the Internet connection, dedicated lines have a higher availability and higher data throughput. With the Premium 1 variation, two dedicated lines guarantee optimal performance and protection against failure. Premium 2 works with a dedicated line and an Internet connection as a backup line in the event that the dedicated line fails. With the iAccess and @Xetra variation, the connection is made exclusively via the Internet. For the connection via iAccess, the market participant operates its own server, the so-called MISS (Member Integrated System Server) and thus achieves high performance. In the case of @Xetra, Deutsche Börse operates this server.

The fees are valid as so-called all-in prices for trading and settlement, and are transaction-linked. They are calculated as a percentage of the transaction value, with a minimum and maximum fee, as well as a monthly minimum transaction fee. The percentage and monthly minimum transaction fee vary depending on the type of connection. As in the past, the fees range between 1.50 euros and 17.50 euros, the monthly minimum transaction fee ranges between 1,200 euros and 10,000 euros.
