Deutsche Börse Acquires Stake In Infobolsa

Date 06/11/2002

Deutsche Börse and Bolsa de Madrid are joining forces to tap the European terminal market as a provider of financial information, as the two partners announced on Wednesday. Deutsche Börse AG will acquire a 50 percent stake in the Spanish company Infobolsa S.A., a 100 percent subsidiary of Bolsa de Madrid.

Infobolsa, which was founded in 1990, is one of the leading providers of real-time financial information in Spain and Portugal. With Deutsche Börse's participation in the venture, Infobolsa will establish a German subsidiary initially to cover the German-speaking market. The company will launch its services for the German-speaking market in December.

"By participating in Infobolsa, Deutsche Börse is extending its value chain and will facilitate further growth in its Information Products Division", said Christoph Lammersdorf, the Deutsche Börse Executive Board member responsible for the Information Products Division. "The German subsidiary of Infobolsa will match a growing demand in the German market for financial information by delivering high quality products at competitive prices."

"This agreement is consistent with Infobolsa's strategy to boost the internationalisation of its activities and the development of its products, as has been the case in Portugal and Latin America. The aim of this project is to introduce the existing technology, content and products developed by Infobolsa to a wider European market by starting with Germany", said Pedro Valdecantos, CEO of Infobolsa.

Deutsche Börse is bringing its know-how in creating superior information products and in distributing data as well as its knowledge of the German financial market. Infobolsa has the tried-and-proven technology, the already successful business in the Spanish and Portuguese markets as well as the expertise to tap markets for financial information.

Infobolsa bundles and distributes real-time data on national and international equities, fixed income, derivatives, money and commodities markets as well as financial news from specialised newswires agencies. The company complements this content with information on the investment fund industry as well as company fundamentals and forecasts of over 40,000 corporations. Infobolsa products are designed for professional use in banks, financial institutions and the media and show a highly competitive price performance ratio. Companies access the German subsidiary of Infobolsa via the Windows based financial information system "NetStation" or directly via an integrated data stream.
