In April €181.2 billion were turned over on Xetra and on the floor of Börse Frankfurt – a rise of 42 percent year-on-year (April 2006: €127.1 billion). Thereof €169 billion were traded on Xetra gaining 45 percent year-on-year (April 2006: €116 billion) and €12 billion on the floor, a plus of 11 percent compared to April last year (April 2006: €10.8 billion). German equities accounted for €170.5 billion, foreign equities comprising €8.1 billion. More than 97 percent of the transaction volume with German equities was executed at Börse Frankfurt. Almost 79.8 percent of foreign equities were traded on Xetra and on the floor.
In the entire month 12 million transactions were executed on Xetra, a rise of 58 percent year-on-year (April 2006: 7.6 million).
Siemens AG was the strongest DAX stock on Xetra in April at €14.5 billion. Puma AG was the top MDAX stock at €2.7 billion while Air Berlin led the SDAX® stock at €221.7 million and Solarworld AG headed the TecDAX® at €495.3 million. At €3 billion, the DAX EX was once again the exchange-traded fund with the largest turnover.
On all stock exchanges in Germany €197.8 billion were traded in April according to orderbook turnover statistics – a rise of 40 percent compared year-on-year (April 2006: €141 billion). This total included €192 billion in equities, warrants and exchange-traded funds, as well as €5.8 billion in fixed-income securities.
