Deutsche Börse: 32 Percent More Equity Transactions Concluded On Tradegate Exchange - More Than 1.5 Million Trades In The First Six Months - Second Largest Stock Exchange In Germany For Equities Trading By Private Investors

Date 08/07/2010

Tradegate Exchange, a stock exchange geared to private clients, set a new record in its first six months as a regulated trading venue. A total of more than 1.5 million transactions were concluded from January to June 2010 in the instrument groups equities, funds and bonds. The majority of these transactions, 1,456,868 trades, were in equities. This corresponds to an increase of around 32 percent over the prior-year period (January to June 2009:1,102,699 trades).

In private investor equities trading, the average market share of Tradegate Exchange in the first six months of 2010 was 31 percent. The share of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange for the same period was 46 percent. Tradegate Exchange thus garnered itself a position once again as the second largest German stock exchange for private investors.

With the connection of OnVista Bank last April, the number of market participants on Tradegate Exchange rose to 16. An increasing number of private investors and active traders thus benefit from the competitive advantages of this trading venue: commission-free trading, long trading hours until 10 p.m. and intelligent order types especially for private investors that enable optimum management of securities accounts.
