Deutsche Börse: Deutsche Börse is currently looking into options for financing startup companies by offering and facilitating financing via capital markets, in line with its principles of integrity, transparency and investor protection. As part of that process, Deutsche Börse is also evaluating the potential of marketable, young growth companies in Germany. As part of these efforts Deutsche Börse today brought together young companies with professional investors in Frankfurt.
Key Insights so far:
- The challenge for growth companies is not in the seedcorn phase, where there are enough finance facilitators out there already, such as venture capitalists and public aid.
- Growth financing – especially via capital markets – is a problem for young and innovative companies because of structural reasons.
- The help any exchange can offer will only be one part of package deal. A constructive dialog with politicians, investors, associations and Deutsche Börse is needed in order to find an adequate framework for financing startups.
